Guitar for Clergy
Eight open chords, fifteen minutes a day, no barre chords.
Eight open chords, practiced fifteen minutes a day for eight weeks, are enough to lead most hymns and carols. The course is built for clergy of any age with no prior experience. There are no barre chords anywhere in it.
By Wilson Pruitt.
How it works
- Self-paced. Start whenever you like and move at your own speed. Each week has one new skill, two or three chord changes to drill, and one or two songs.
- Practice is the teacher. Short daily practice beats one long weekly session, because fingertip calluses and finger memory build through repetition. Use the daily 15 minutes and its one-minute changes timer.
- Occasional Zoom sessions. They are scheduled when enough people ask, for checking hand positions and correcting habits before they set. Say you are interested.
Where to go
- Before you begin: equipment, posture, how to read a chord shape and a chord sheet.
- The eight chords, with diagrams and photos.
- The eight-week plan and the songbook.
